      The essay discusses the history of the Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, the first corporation created under the Community Development Corporation (CDC) initiative established by Senator Robert F. Kennedy. The CDC was founded to help ameliorate the impact of black radicalism and the black power movement. Topics include community activism by urban African Americans, urban renewal, and liberalism and reform.
